I work with people in a collaborative, interactive and supportive way. We'll focus on understanding the thoughts and behaviors that led you to where you are now, and work to change them so that your sense of self is more positive and relationships with others are more rewarding.
I have a Humanistic approach deeply rooted in evidence based therapies such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Control-Mastery Theory which I learned during my 4 years of training at SFPRG.org.
I incorporate cognitive behavioral therapy which focuses on an individual's limiting negative thoughts and leverages behavioral changes to facilitate changes in thinking. In sessions we look at how to begin changing these thoughts and related behaviors to be more "realistic", flexible and in line with how you want to be in the world. I could write more about the psychological underpinnings of my approach and process, but realize many people don't even get this far when reading about these sorts of things...
